Samyukta Chillara
Samyukta’s dance journey began in 2001 with initial training in the Tanjavur style of Bharatanatyam under gurus Shobana Shankar and Shyamala Balan. She completed her Arangetram under guru Bhavani Dharmaraj. She then continued her training at Shankarananda Kalakshetra in Hyderabad under Dr. Ananda Shankar Jayant which was comprehensive, covering aesthetics, music, choreography, theory, and body conditioning. She performed in ensemble productions across multiple cities in India. Samyukta also taught junior classes and earned a Bharatanatyam certificate from Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University under Shankarananda Kalakshetra. Since 2021, she has been practising the ‘marga nritta karanas’ from the Natyashastra under Vithya Arasu, based on the teachings of Dr. Padma Subramanyam. For the past year, she has been teaching Bharatanatyam at Nupura Dance School in Barcelona and online through her own institute, Natyayukta Kalasala. Her passion is to explore, understand, and share the movement vocabulary of Indian classical dance.
